I think you hit the nail right on the head! We were always handed some garbage about "keeping the congregation clean" and were scared into submission after 1981.
Little did WE know, that it was on the heels of the incident with Ray Franz, and those who saw through what was being done to him, and within a few months.....we get this "new light" in the Wathtower on how we should "view" disfellowshipped ones. Of course, we all bought it and did what Mama wished.
Thats when MY family began to take sides and fall apart into two camps, and continued to fall apart completely. All because the Borg was afraid the sheep would discover their actions and what REALLY went on, and what REALLY prompted the more severe restrictions about DFed ones (and DAed ones)
I am SO ANGRY at being manipulated into thinking that I was being "pleasing to Jehovah" when HE had NOTHING to do with the evil, lying, two-faced rules the GB shoved down the throats of loyal sheep.
Will we EVER hear an apology for THAT?
