Okay, Jan and A.F. Your deepest fears have been realized. It is now CONFIRMED that the water canopy was FROZEN!
When the scriptures refer to the "deep" often translated as "watery deep" it is a term also applied to the water storehouses of the heavens and often specifically to the water canopy over the Earth before the flood which we can now confirm was frozen by comparison of the following scriptures. In each of these scriptures, the same Hebrew term tehown meaning "a surging mass of water" is used. But clearly it refers to the water masses above as well.
Job 38:30 "The waters are hidden like stone, the FACE of the deep [tehown] is FROZEN."KJV
This is merely a double reference that the hardened (stone-like) water canopy was totally invisble ("hidden"), and that it was frozen hard.
Psalms 104:6 "With the watery deep [tehown] just like a garment you covered it. The waters were standing above the very mountains."
COMPARE WITH:
Job 38:9 "When I put the cloud as its garment, and thick gloom as its swaddling band."
This is in reference to the water canopy around the Earth before the flood. These two verses are talking about the same thing, thus we know that the "deep waters"[tehown] are also a direct reference to the water canopy which was frozen and thus standing above the mountains.
Proverbs 3:20 "By his knowledge the watery deeps [tehown] themselves were split apart, and the cloudy skies keep dripping down light rain."
Again a reference to the "watery deeps" as being in the heavens with reference to clouds, or the "watery deeps" of the heavens.
Proverbs 8:24 "When there were no watery deeps I was brought forth as with labor pains, when there were no springs heavily charged with water."
This is a reference to Jesus' prehuman existence (AS MICHAEL, THE MORTAL ARCHANGEL..:>) before there was land was made and the fountain system established, or before the "watery deeps" of heaven were separated from the Earth below and created. Thus this is a reference to the watery canopy and it helps us understand more specifically the following verse, our KEY TEXT:
Proverbs 8:27, 28: "When he prepared the heavens [space between canopy and Earth] I was there; when he decreed a circle upon the face of the watery deep [tehown], when he made firm [ice] the cloud masses above, when he caused the foundations of the watery deep to be strong.
This is a wonderful scripture and it simply is describing quite poetically how the "CIRCLE" assigned to the surface of the "watery deep" simply meant that Jehovah caused the waters above to be formed into a crystal clear perfectly round and circular canopy before he froze it! That is, before he then "strengthened it" and made it "firm" by freezing it! Thus they were no longer liquid and pliable, but like stone, hard and strong.
ICE! ICE! ICE! That's it, baby! ICE! PUT some in my glass!
Also please note this is definite anteduvlial setting....
So in conclusion, several scriptures confirm that the water masses above the earth that formed the so-called water canopy were miraculously frozen after forming a solid water "bubble" around the Earth. Obviously some form would have to be given this liquifaction and so it was formed into a perfect "circle" before it was then "strengthened" or made "hard" like "stone" making it invisible as well as "firm."
And of course, it was just set in its own orbit around the sun with the Earth perfectly in its center. But all these scriptural references to this event must mean it had to be a spectacular event and achievement in and of itself even for those in Heaven, and the memory of the "Earth Under Glass" a strong memory. It must have been spectacularly beautiful.

So another mystery as far as the flood goes has been revealed. The hydrodynmic physics involved for a clear-ice encasement are well within the physical laws of gravity and/or centrifugal force. Not that difficult to put a hollow round ice shell in orbit around the sun, then melt it when the time came. I like the idea that Jehovah had to assign a "circle" to it, that is he had to actually form it perfectly circular since likely it was not so stable in its liquid "bubble" form. So that was miraculous. It must have been like an ocean of flowing deep water in the heavens floating above the Earth before it was formed into a perfect circle and frozen.
But divinely simple. The ice canopy was a hollow planet around the Earth in its own orbit around the Sun. Fantastic. That works!
Also please note, of course, this completely revises my previous thoughts that the canopy was made up of ice chips in a huge band in their own individual orbits like the rings around Jupiter. (well....???)(smile. Just kidddddding! Just wanted to cheer you two up since you've lost yet another argument. :>)
