A person who loves the truth is willing to go wherever that truth leads him, even though it will cost him in terms of friends, position, authority and respectability. Doing so has cost me plenty in terms of the same since 1980

I visited Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church (Dr. Kennedy’s South Florida’s church) a few years back in order to listen to a one-day presentation about Jehovah’s Witnesses by a famous Christian apologists. I was stunned to hear the name of Randy Watters mentioned followed by the statement, “He is no longer with us.” At first I thought you had died in a car accident.

Then the speaker elaborated further. “Randy Watters has fallen away from the truth.” Basically, his argument for making such harsh statement was the fact that “Randy Watters did not accept the doctrine of inerrancy of the Scriptures.”

Needless to say, during lunch, our group of current and former Jehovah’s Witnesses discussed this matter, and all of us agreed that the speaker had been off the mark with his characterization of your beliefs. For us, folks coming out of a system of totalitarian religious control, to hear a Christian brother call another brother ‘not part of the truth’ because of a doctrinal disagreement was disheartening. I for one have more respect from you now for having the courage to stand for your beliefs instead of just buying into the party line. I hope you know that most of us here in South Florida still respect you very much.
