I quite agree with your assessment.
On the 1975 thing, Greg obviously either didn't do his homework, or he simply neglected to include material that disproved his claims. Plenty has been published in books and on the net about this, so he really has no excuse not to know the full range of criticisms. Ray Franz certainly gave a good account in Crisis of Conscience. For more than 5 years I've been distributing a writeup on JW dates that includes plenty about 1975. It's available on Osarsif's website. There was even a contemporary criticism written: In December 1975 a revised version of the book The Jehovah’s Witnesses and Prophetic Speculation (Edmond C. Gruss, Presbyterian and Reformed, 1972, 1975) was published. The book details many of the Society's statements since 1966, along with many statements from interviews with current JWs, and shows why the prediction was made so solidly even though a few wimpy disclaimers were also made. The above linked material quotes from a religious newspaper, which completely disproves JW-apologists claims about the fervor with which the Society promoted 1975.
You've probably noted that I reposted Greg's embarrassing post. What H2O admins do now will prove their intentions.
