Hello Da,
>HOWEVER, let's examine for the sake of your argument that Jesus died on the 20th. We have a few Possibilities here:
Okay.
A) Jesus was released and re-arrested on the 20th.
That doesn't work since his trial was at Noon on the 19th. So from the trial at Noon he was led to Calvary and impaled by 9:00 p.m. that night, Wednesday night. He died thursday afternoon and spent his first night, Thursday night, in the grave. So this scenario doesn't work. So we know his whereabouts from Noon Wednesday, Nisan 19th.
So this scenario is dismissed. But I see what you're saying. So you can release him and rearrest him on any other day up to the 19th if you want. But he was in custody at Noon on Wednesday the 19th.
>>B) Jesus was detained somewhere for this period of time being held for a death sentence.
This scenario does not contradict scripture and is most likely. That week might have been an exception since it was Passover week and during this festival they released to the people one condemned criminal. They chose Barabbas. It is reasonable to think that several prisoners were held this week up until Wednesday, the 19th, when one day before the sabbath they held the executions. So this is the likely scenario.
>>C) Jesus was placed under house arrest, and voluntarily returned for his crucifixion on the 20th.
Variation of #A above. This works for me too except he would have to return by Wednesday at Noon. Oh, by the way, I guess we don't really have this option. He would have had to have surrendered to Herod, since Pilate said that Herod brought him back that morning. The presumption then was that he was with Herod being interrogated and tried all this time or at least part of the time. So if he was released, Herod would have released and he had to return to Herod in time for the trial at Noon. Probably Herod and his wife had Jesus over for breakfast that morning and they walked over together to the governor's palace. That works for me. Or maybe they all three had special Prisoner Release Day Morning Bruch! Yeah. That's works. Herod, Pilate, Jesus and Herod's wife. Then the trial to try to get Jesus released, but the crowd wouldn't have it.
>>NOW, one of the above scenarios has to fit in order for your theory to work.
Yes, one of them does!
>>If you can cite me one Biblical scripture that E V E N HINTS at ONE of these, then I'll reevaluate my conclusions on this matter.
I don't know what you mean. The most information we have is that Pilate turned Jesus over into Herod's custody at some point and on Wednesday morning or sometime on Wednesday Herod returned Jesus to Pilate on which day they became friends, so I assume it was sometime that morning. Herod had to interrogate Jesus at one point, but exactly what happened from the time Pilate turned him over until Herod returned him the Bible doesn't say. I think the general "hint" is that he was in custody all that time. But you can make up whatever you want to, just as long as you have Herod returning Jesus by trial time on Wednesday, Nisan 19th at Noon.
:>
Besides that, whether or not the Bible "hints" at what Jesus was doing during those days matters not as to whether he died on Nisan 20th. Other details prove he died on Nisan 20th more compelling than the details of his being in custody under Herod or not for the intervening time that he left Pilate and then returned to Pilate.
