so they presented a speculation with sincere
enthusiasm and urgency causing disappointment
and harm in the end 'cause it wasn't true in the
first place.

I think the problem here is an attempt to prove
that the GB/Writing Staff are deliberate con men
who have deliberately deceived people - and that
you can quote the WT. to prove it.

Quite to the contrary, I'm sure all involved in
the promulgation of this unfounded speculation
were utterly sincere in doing so. But looked at
as a whole, how can this sad affair do anything
but remove confidence in the notion that God leads
them? There are several "periods of urgency"
when some chronology drove them to emphasize some
date - since these ended in disappointment, would
it not show an ethical respect for truth , as well
as common sense, to avoid such statements?
Where is "the hand of God" in this? Guiding them
towards truth? or tragic error? And if error, then
are they not, in fact, inferior to groups that
have not made such errors?
