Wow! This is a very important point you have docmented here!

It helps to show how the human brain works - or in some cases, doesn't work. It demonstrates how what we 'see' is influenced by what we already believe, or by what we *want* to believe.

In this case Greg has completely reversed the meaning (hopefully unintentionally) of what the Society said in the August 15, 1968 Watchtower in regard to expectations about the upcoming year of 1975. (See Ray Franz's comments on that article on page 205 of "Crisis of Conscience.")

It is clear that the article was telling us that we *shouldn't* pay any attention to Jesus' statement that he didn't know the day or the hour of the end of this system of things; that we *should't* use his words *as an excuse* not to think the end would come by 1975.

But Greg presented the article as if it was telling us that we *should* pay attention to Jesus' statement; that we *should* use his words *as a warning* not to think the end would come by 1975.

(I hope the above makes sense!)

I would sure like to hear Greg's response to this.
