Greg's comment to you (and I think sharing a private email communication on a public forum is in bad taste) differs little from what was stated in a Watchtower article about a year ago or so, in that the main reason JWs know that Christ's presence has begun is by recognizing the fulfillment of the composite "sign of the end" and not so much by chronological calculations.
World War I, the Spanish influenza, the imprisonment and release of da Judge, and so forth represent the concrete evidence that we live in the "last days" which run parallel to Christ's second presence. The removal of the vassal king Zedekiah and the abandonment of Jerusalem is apparently obsolete these days when measuring the stream of prophetic time.
So folks like Greg would have us believe.
