The Passover Lamb or Goat was sacrificed the evening of the 13th, which began the 14th.
Now you're trying to fit the Roman calendar method of dating to the Jewish system, and this simply won't work. The Jews never began a secular day at midnight. There days always began and ended with the sun setting. There is NOTHING in the scriptures A N Y W H E R E that even suggest that the Passover Lamb had to be eaten before midnight.
Let me state that I have totally ignore the meaningless system of Roman date settings of figuring days, because they just don't apply here.
The priests NEVER were commanded to sacrifice the Passover Lamb for the people; however there might have been some that did, but this wasn't a Biblical command.
The Sabbath, or special day, that was being prepared for after the Passover was the Sabbath that followed the day after the crucifixion.
It's that simple. There is no hidden meaning here. One would have to totally rewrite history to fit your scenario here. I can't imagine where they would have kept Jesus locked up for 6 more days here for him to have been killed on the 20th. Can you??? Yet this is what you're saying.
NO< the record is plain as to what happened. Jesus ate the Passover on the evening beginning the 14th with his disciples, as the Bible says he did. There is no unbroken time line here in the events, and he was killed the next evening the way the Bible says. To deny this would be to deny Bible record. I can't make it any plainer than that.
I don't know what your agenda is on this issue, but it doesn't fit the Bibles record.
