I haven't read all the posts yet so maybe someone has covered this, but you really need to read what is actually being said, not what you think is being said before you answer.
You yelled:

He actually said:
"I cannot say at this time which side
I was one, just remember that we were nearly divided evenly on the issue."
He didn't say he didn't remember he said he could not say. Two very different things!
Goes to show what he meant about communication.
