Where were your parents??? When I was little, a very long time ago, my parents went with me every single year.
My own children didn't like it, so we didn't do it, except for one year, at which time we both went with them on our own block.
And then we became JWs and quit doing the holidays. BUT, our congregation, a few weeks after halloween, decided to have a costume party. My kids hated it! LOL
Being a JW didn't shield us or push us into that stuff. Not doing it was as hard as doing it.
When we got away from the JW thing for good, my kids were grown. They then started dressing up on Halloween for their jobs. One year my tall, gorgeous daughter dressed up like Pippi Long Stockings. It was so funny!!! We laughed til there was tears.
But I'm wondering where your parents were. I'd never have allowed my children out at night like than with a teenage girl.
