Dear GB:
I prefer that you continue to contribute to this forum. I trust my
intuition in this case. I am as certain as a person can be,
without physical confirmation that I know who you are. One of my
passions is the study of personality and its biological roots. You
are the most extraverted member on the GB. You are also
comfortable with change and have a deep love of people and a group
oriented helpfulness. Many in this forum would love to see you
present a structure because they need a predictable environment.
But such is not your style. You are an advocate of the "open door"
policy. Your approach is indirect and tolerant. The last thing
you want is to give the appearance of taking advantage of people
and turning on the hard sell.
Some here apparently idolize Ray Franz. I read both of his books.
That is to say the books to which he could claim authorship. They
were valuable to me because they allowed a peak inside the black
box. There are many ways to configure a mechanism to make clock
hands turn, so it is helpful to take the clock apart and see what
makes it tick. I can understand where you might not feel
comfortable with Ray Franz. Ray's temperament was more in line with
the other members of the governing body. He didn't like the rules
but wanted new rules. In his first book I pick up a feeling that
he had a vindictive attitude. He tries too much to show himself as
having noble motives. Nobody is THAT noble. Again, I don't say
this to portray him in a bad light. He simply is what he is.
Farkel has an irrational attitude toward you and others. He would
like to be righteously indignant. His rash statements show him to
be righteously un-dignant. I have given 50 years to this
organization and will be affected by it till I die because I place
family unity above my personal beliefs. I don't feel any anger
against the Governing Body because I see them as victims as much as
myself. The reality is that "position" is just an abstraction. In
those positions are humans with their own personal doubts and who
are confused and disappointed on an almost unspeakable level with
the way things have turned out.
At least one member of the governing body is fascinated with
Hegel's dialectical approach. The idea has appeared in the
Watchtower how the organization proceeds toward reality from
thesis to antithesis to synthesis. Now more than ever the
Governing Body needs to see how this process is the only way out of
the current difficulties they face. The sides have been chosen. Is
there going to be an all out battle or an honest attempt to reach
a new synthesis whatever it may prove to be. Synthesis is NOT
compromise. Compromise is a way of maintaining the status quo by
taking turns at the controls. Synthesis is a way to move forward
to a new place altogether.
