That is almost my exact words to 'GB' in one of our first e-mail exchanges about this subject. Most JWs these days don't even know how to explain the chronology stuff, in how it ties back to 607B.C. A few may know that its supposed to be 2520 years from 607BC to 1914AD, but those seem to be few any more. They almost all simply identify it with WWII in my observations on the Internet. The fact is most of them could care less if the 1914 date were changed. Some of them are even expecting it to be changed to 1934 to account for the 20-year discrepancy in their flawed prophecy/chronology.
You absolutely right IMO, all they would have to do is stop talking about it, and it would be go away on its own in a few years without them ever having to publish a startling "new light" on the issue. The next generation wouldn't be any more concerned with 1914 and the present generation is about 1874.
Now for a couple of questions / comments for GB and Ros!
I have not seen any comments to confirm that anyone has addressed or forwarded his letters to the Governing Body at Bethel. Why?
My guesses are:
1) No one at Bethel cares about H20 and do not monitor the board.
2) They think it is a hoax, in which case the people you must prove yourself to is them, not the people on this board.
3) Something has happened at Bethel that has caused those posters from Bethel to refrain from making post here. Take your pick.
You forgot option 4) All of the above.
My vote would be all three of the above. Especially 1 and 2.
