Lion, I appreciated that heart felt response you just posted. I am not here to persuade you, or anyone else, that the WT is wrong. I am here proclaiming to think for your self and you'll reach that conclusion on your own. Sounds as though you have had or are having a crisis of conscience.
You know, it takes guts friend to stand up and say look here, we are heading in the wrong direction. You face banishment from a life long interest, or at least be branded as someone "WEAK" in the faith.
The first book that I ever read contrary to Watchtower theology was "30 Years a Watchtower Slave" by William J Schnell, published in 1971. I have no idea if the man is still living or not, but he was one of the first to publish after he left the org. He stated in his book that the finale of a JW was, "They have become just a cog in a class. It is in this way that a person becomes a slave or Jonadab, and gives up every claim of being a Christian." Can you imagine this? This person was a "Traveling Overseer." Imagine the agony he must have suffered before he actually broke free. I never reached this level, but could you imagine giving instructions to someone on a matter you didn't personally believe to be so? I think that well sums up what a JW is. You are no longer a person, you're a statistic. You become a reporter of time, and a slave to a printing giant. (A hewer of wood and a carrier of water). My question is: when did Jesus ever give anyone authority over anyone else? That's what the Society has over us, or you now I should say.

Mr. Schnell made this statement at the end of his book: "Let my life of slavery be your warning! It took me thirty years to get free."
