I left around 1980. Dates weren't my main beef, just something that tickled my doubts. I was most disturbed by the hypocricy of the Elders and the Watch Tower leadership's paranoia. If they had the truth what were they so afraid of? I had an interests in science and knew that the Global Flood could not be literal,especially with the goofy explainations offered by the Society to "enhance" the Bible stories like vapour clouds and pre-flood animals all eating plants(lions and polar bears ate grass like cows). In short, many things told me the Society was wrong but I never expected them to be wrong about so much. I couldn't sustain the illusion any more and couldn't teach others what I couldn't believe myself. I could see the Elders didn't really believe either by the materialistic way they ran their personal lives. I would say that a general lack of evidence for any of their claims is the # 1 enemy of the Watch Tower Society and not Apostates. Apostates would be helpless against them if the Society had a good evidence base to work from. The evidence just isn't there,its clear the Society has just been making things up from their leadership's imaginations for years ,that's why their "truth" is always changing. I'm ready to listen when they have hard evidence to offer. Liberty
