Those are some great comments Bibleman. WRONG!! Nevertheless, good comments.Jesus ate the Passover with his disciples as the Jewish law and costume provided on Nisan 14th. Proof. If you notice in the book of Luke, and I start there for no logical reason, but just because I'm turned there, beginning with ch 22:v7. A simple statement of the passover had come, and Jesus told his disciples to go an make preparations for them to eat the Passover.
We need to note here that the Jews were allowed to share a Passover Lamb. Each family, because of size was permitted to eat the Passover with their neighbor. And we need to note that the priest didn't kill the Passover Lambs for all the Jews, only those who needed help.

Luke continues on in v39 of the events of that evening, and up to v54 we find Jesus being arrested.
Note, this is still the 14th of Nisan, and also the 1st day of unleavened bread, and will remain the 14th until we reach another sunset.
So, now we are in the first night of the first day of Unlevened Bread, and also the Passover.
During this first night we find Jesus being arrested. What time is it??? We aren't told, but we know it's still Nisan 14th.
The first place they take Jesus is to the High Priest, and we already know how he feels about Jesus, v54.
How long were they there? We don't know! However, we do know they were there more than an hour, v56-59. I think they were there until approximately daybreak, because of my being from the country that's when I know the rooster's crow

We are next told in v66 that at daybreak Jesus was led before the Elders, Chief Priest, and Pharisees. This trial didn't last long. Jesus told them he was v 70.

NOTE: WE ARE STILL ON THE DATE NISAN 14TH ONLY IT'S THE NEXT MORNING. REMEMBER, SUNSET TO SUNSET.

AHHHH!!! Now they had the evidence they needed to Kill Jesus.

Jesus was then taken before Pilate, and Pilate found no reason to kill him. Pilate shifting the responsibility, as politicians do, sent him to Herod. Herod found no reason and sent him back to Pilate.

NOW, this is the Noon trial that JOHN mentions, but it's still Nisan 14th.

Its interesting that John makes no mention of Herod in his account, but it's not relevant to our discussion.

NOTE: We're still on the day Nisan14th. Pilate hands Jesus over to be crucified WHEN??? Not on the 20th, Not on Halloween, Not on Easter, but on the 14th. The same day of his trial!!!!

The next day, the 15th, was a Sabbath. Now, because every now and again the 15th of Nisan was bound to land on a Saturday, the Jews considered this to be a special, or as King Jimmy calls it, "An High Day." They were preparing for this day.

Notice in John's account in ch 19 v 31, they were preparing for a "Special Sabbath". This Sabbath fell on a Sabbath. The is no lapse of time as in days from Pilate's allowing Jesus to be executed. Jesus is killed that self-same day. Nisan 14th, and is buried before the Sabbath's beginning on Nisan 15th and the regular weekly Sabbath.

IT'S THAT SIMPLE!!!!

NOW, as for the scripture of Jesus being three nights in the tomb, I think the scripture you're referring to is in Matthew 12:40. Let's examine that scripture. If you notice, Jesus said that he would be THREE DAYS and THREE NIGHTS in the tomb.

You see, your scenario of this murder doesn't fit either. You're saying that Jesus was crucified Thursday afternoon, and arose Saturday night. Well, that’s Just parts of THREE DAYS. The same thing that you're condemning the Society for. What's the difference in THREE NIGHTS or THREE DAYS if you only use parts?

Notice, from THURSDAY afternoon to FRIDAY AFTERNOON is one day, and from FRIDAY AFTERNOON TO SATURDAY AFTERNOON IS ONE DAY. Then from FRIDAY afternoon to sunset is only TWO DAYS AND ONE HALF. Where's the other half of the day? Didn't Jesus say THREE DAYS and THREE NIGHTS? If we are to believe this literally, then we have to consider Jesus being crucified on a Wednesday.

The Gospels make it plain that days didn't lapse between the Passover and the murder of Jesus. True enough, he wasn't killed on the same evening as the Passover Lamb, but he was killed on the same legal day.

And for a "KICKER NOTE", Jesus was resurrected on the day of offering of the "First Fruits", which was Nisan 16th.
I Do hope this clears things up for you Bibleman, but if not, we'll do it until we get it right.

Da.
