Of note, even into the 1920's there was the concept that the natural Jews would be fulfilling Bible prophecy, particularly their return to Palestine was clearly understood as a sign.

That disappeared completely at some point along with the understanding that the 1335 days was fulfilled at Christ's Second Coming, then thought to be 1874.

Quite interesting.
