Having been one for a long time and not celebrating holidays, my family is now free,
FREE! We celebrate the holidays if we want to, if it seems like a good thing to do at that
time. And sometimes we don't celebrate. It depends on our moods and our means.

If you are celebrating the so-called holidays, you are not free. Period. End of sentance.

:I don't even look at it as following the world. The world would dictate that I have to
celebrate Xmas. But I don't want to every year. I think we have entirely too many
holidays. It is hard to keep up with them.

And Christ would have us not celebrate it at all or he would have started it correctly.

:AND, what do you mean by independent thinking? the WTS literature seems to be
written at a young age level. How on earth can any people who may be of above average
intelligence get any mental stimulation following just the JW literature?

Typical apostate response. I didn't say anything about WTS literature. Independent thinking is just that. It would me that one would not be dependent upon something else. Apostates claim that they are indepenent thinkers, but if they were, they would do that in all matters.

:The GB has made so many drastic mistakes, damaged and ruined so many decent lives,
that one HAS to think independently to protect themselves and their families from such
things. God gave us free will and the WTS is trying to remove that.

As I have always said, "So what what the GB did".
God gave us free will and no matter what the GB or the WTS says, it does not take that from us. I have free will and use it. But I am not an apostate. I am not on a campaign against the WTS. I recognize that the GB can make mistakes but it does not have to affect me.

I didn't say that independent thinking was bad, I was pointing out that it should not be done against Jehovah's organization only and not satan's.

:
Do you really think it is a good thing as an example to small children to shun someone?
Anyone? That is teaching them exclusivity and one upsmanship. It is teaching them values
completely contrary to compassionate living.

Yes I do think it is a good example. If someone is to be shunned, that one is wicked and children should avoid the wicked.

Yes, the WTS is about compassion.

Apostates just take things out of context so they don't know what the WTS is about anyway.
