I don't have a quote Kent but I do have an example. Recently A female JW sued the WTS and a local group of elders in a sexual abuse case. The allegation was she had been sexually abused by her older brother, also a JW. The abuse had been brought to the attention of the local elders who handled the matter internally without notifying the local authorities. I believe the elders violated state law by not going to the authorities. The abuse continued after the elders counseled the older brother.
I don't know what the outcome of the case was but I understand the WTS settles most cases like this out of court. I'm sure the elders are instructed to handle matters this way in order to keep up appearances.
