Great post, LE. I agree with your sentiments completely.

Many years ago I was seriously injured in an auto accident. Another person was killed. The doctors attending me (I was unconscious for several days after the accident) were told by my family that blood was not to be given to me under any circumstances.

The doctors were able to get a court order to administer blood to me. I was given a number of units of blood and I am, of course, still alive. Without the intervention of the doctors and the court I would have dies when my children were very little. They are now grown and have children of their own.

I am very grateful to those hard working ethical healthcare workers, court officials and others that were instrumental in saving my life many years ago. My JW friends, however, still do not understand that I would have been long since dead without the administration of that blood.

Many JWs are less fortunate that I was. Many die with little chance of survival because of their ignorance about the blood issue. Unfortunately, most of the blame for their ignorance rests with the Watchtower Society for keeping its followers in darkness.

Regards,

Believer
