Hi Farkel,
This is a great post!
But it makes me so sad. They did the same thing with blaming the brothers for thinking Russell was the "faithful slave", making a big deal out of how they denied it in 1927 and Rusell denied it during this life, and totally ignoring that the main reason that the brothers would have "adopted" this idea was that it was OFFICIAL WTS doctrine when Rutherford put out the "7th Volume" claiming this book would prove that Russell was that servant:
From the "Publisher's Preface" of "The Finished Mystery" it says:
..The great Master laid special emphasis on the importance of the messenger to the seventh, or Laodicean, pereiof of he Church, saying that such an one would be "a faithful and wise servant, whom his Lord woule make ruler over all His Household, to give them meat in due season.""Those consecreated christians who have read and full appreciated the Truth as contained in the preceding six volumes of STUDIES IN THE SCRIPTURES readily see and agree that Charles Taze Russell was the messenger of the Church of Laodicea. In the mind of every one who believes the Bible the evidence set forth in this volume will establish that fact beyond the question of doubt.... and that the earthly creature made prominent therein above all others is the messenger of the Laodicean Church--"that wise and faithful servant of the Lord"--CHARLES TAZE RUSSELL." [All CAPS theirs!]
But the 1975 Yearbook gives a different picture when it says on page 88 regarding the idea of Russell being that servant.. "So it was understood that the "servant" God used to dispense spiritual food was a class. With the passing of time, however, the idea ADOPTED by many was that C.T. Russell himself was the "faithful and wise servant." This led some into the snare of creature worship.... In February 1927 this erroneous thought that Russell himself was the "faithful and wise servant" was cleared up."
[Please note, the above is just a "lie" too! This was not a gradually developed idea, it was shoved down their throats before Russell's dead body had time to cool off, officially, by the WTS!]
And why wouldn't the brothers ADOPT this idea since it was official Watchtower Society doctrine? !!!! Spearheaded by Rutherford himself! This erroneous idea was Watchtower policy for ten years. And now they are blaming it on the brothers.
But can you see. They have to blame it on somebody else other than the "Faithful Slave" because they have to keep that image as perfect as possible.
So they have been "fleecing" the sheep for a long time. Still, those sheep don't bother checking the facts and when you show them, they try to minimize it. So as much as the GB is doing the fleecing, there is definitely a marriage here going on. Lots of people saying, "Please lie to us, any excuse will do, oh Faithful Slave! Yes, it was our fault. We misread what you told us! It's our fault. Yeaaa, O Faithful Slave, you are blameless before us...."
Too much!
Great article, Farkle Sparkle! Keep WAPPIN' 'EM! Maybe somebody will wake up.
Cheers,
