"Page 21 of Dec 1 Wt indicates this witness family felt Jehovah arranged for a flood to come and ruin their crops so they would feel free to go to a convention."
Boy, the Lord does work in mysterious ways, doesn't he? I would have sent someone to harvest the crops, or perhaps 'made the crops stand still' until the witless family could return from the convention. I guess that is why I'm not God, I'm just not destructive enough.
"Of course, the next year when they replanted they had a bumper crop."
Floods often do that, they are known to fertilize and spread new top soil. Hallelujah, must be the hand of God.
""This surely helped to convince Mom and Dad that putting full trust in Jehovah would never go unrewarded." "
A few more "rewards" like that and they will be forced to quit farming altogether. Glory be.
"Wonder how they felt about Jehovah wiping out their neighbors' crops that year just so they as JWs could attend a convention?"
Who cares, those people are all going to die soon anyway. Let's torture them first.
