Mr. GB has not answered my question below, so I'll repeat it here:
Question number two is similar and taken directly from AF’s post of a few months ago. The issues that he raises go directly to the heart of the JW problems IMHO. Here is what AF said:
“Posted by AF [AF] on April 11, 1999 at 12:54:35 {W9OtcxMCf.tWYktmF7cQdaOt1gg/Zk}:
I have repeatedly stated on this forum that the Fundamental Doctrine of Jehovah’s Witnesses is that their Governing Body speaks for Jehovah and is God's direct and unique representative to mankind on earth today. Corollary to this is that their Governing Body is not to be questioned, since questioning it is tantamount to questioning God. Also corollary is that Jehovah's Witnesses are uniquely God's people, i.e., no one else will get salvation.”
Here is the question: Will there soon be a change in this fundamental doctrine? Most former JWs on this forum no longer believe this doctrine and many inside the organization secretly don’t believe it either. A major modification in this doctrine would make the JW organization a kinder, gentler group with which to associate. Eliminating this doctrine is the single most important positive change that the GB could make. This kind of change would, of course, require many more changes such as making numerous issues a matter of conscience rather than JW law.
Warm regards,
