I always smile smugly when I read your thoughts about God, Jan, knowing full well if something "supernatural" happened, or God showed himself or an angel appeared to you, that would be all it would take to chagne your mind about God.
And that is exactly what is happening now. First with the JIOR and later with all of mankind as Jehovah becomes directly active in mankind's affairs right now. I know, I know, they have been claiming this coming for a long time, but actually the "scheduled events" that were prophesied are just now ending. 2000 years from the fall of 2BCE to make up the "last days" (1000 years each) just ended October 6, 1999!
The equivalent of 12 hours (11 hours of working and payment during the last hour) of Matthew 20, an implied 84 years with 7 years per hour just ends in 1999 counting from 1914-1915 (1915+84=1999)(7x12=84). And of course, a generation after 1914 just ended in 1994, and the Jubilee (490x4=1960) from 36CE in 1996 (1960+36=1996), corresponding to the Jewish jubilee 49 years earlier in 1947 (1996-49=1947).
So from a "scheduled" events concept based upon Biblical chronology of modern events, we're just now finishing off some critical dating between 1994 and 1999.
Bottom line, once direct intervention by God actually starts there will be no doubt there is a God and exactly how powerful he is.
Of course, those on the "inside" of his arrangement have already begun to see direct intervention, including the "sign of the Son of man" which appeared on December 26, 1992. And fortunately, I don't have to convince anybody about that or listen to any charges that I'm delusional since the sign appeared in the literal clouds and thus was visible to many and photographed. For those of us in the JIOR who have seen this, of course, we know there is a God since he has shown himself to us through his direct works and the operation of holy spirit.
The rest of the world, like those of Noah's day, will soon see God's direct intervention and thus will never be able to claim again there is no God.
So just hold on there, Jan, and keep awake!
