: If you were appointed the next president of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, what is the first change you would make to prevent this from ever happening again?
Not presuming to speak for Norm, I would guess that he would dismantle the organization wholesale, in the way that W. P. Brown recommended for all types of organizations in his essay "Imprisoned Ideas". Brown reasoned that all organizations eventually become corrupted, losing the ideals of the founders and evolving into an entity that exists largely to perpetuate itself. Isn't that exactly what the WT organization has become?
: Of course, I'm assuming that as the president your goal is the very best collective interests of all Jehovah's Witnesses.
That's what dismantling the organization would be. Of course, it would take time and would require an educational campaign rather different from what JWs are used to. This time it would be educating them as to why JW leaders are not God's spokesmen and never were, and preparing the JW community to live apart from the milk handed out by the current leaders. In other words, JWs would for the first time be taught to stand on their own two spiritual feet.
