Hey Comf, You said it for me too - exactly my experience and sentiments - right on down to the age 46 bit. What month were you born in 52' - I'm December. I have to add, that there is too much about the Biblical concept of God that doesn't make sense to me - the world makes better sense without an Almighty, but that's just the way I see it.
