If you are in the realm of subjectivity, fine, but to say, "There was a global flood and you can't prove there wasn't" simply is not accurate. I can prove it, unless we are to suspend all normal criteria for proof of floods, or bend to some other entirely subjective authority.
If I told you that your room was flooded last week, right up to the ceiling, yet your computer, your clothes, your books, your papers have obviously not been damaged by water, you would consider my claim entirely false, unless natural processes were expected to be suspended and a "force field" kept all moisture and energy exerted by the water from affecting the contents. Yes, if we call on what is esentially magic, we can say anything happened. But if you are going to begin by saying that you validate the Bible via the reliability of astronomy, when and where do you stop? Some of the laws of physics are ok but some are not.
And evolution is not so relevant as that man has been here much longer than current interpreters of the Bible indicate. 6000 years of CIVILIZATION is what we have. We have had cities that long; Settlements; farming by many people; specialized labor. This should be in the first chapter of Genesis, but it is not. Humans preceded civilization by a very long time. Well, we could go forever on this and I don't think it's productive for either one of us.
You're a good man Gary, but don't eliminate examining your emotions.
