I sometimes see people who are passionately opposed to God, his concept sometimes being viewed as simply a mythological dream and a dangerous one at that.
I often sense a passionate anger from some atheists when encountering those who put their faith in God. Yet the thing about the atheists is that they too are adamently holding on to a belief struture that they often promote in much the same way as one who witnesses for God. I have sometimes read or heard about individuals opposing such things as their child hearing a prayer said aloud at school or being given a bible. I wonder why this should matter so much when it's a fact of life children will constantly be exposed to things other than what we teach them. Is it forcing atheism on children to have them taught evolution in school?
Some athiests view a faith in God as something akin to belief in fanciful fairytales. They promote their belief structure based on science. Yet at the end of the day the reality is you cannot prove God does not exist. A fact recognised by the Agnostic who is the proverbial fence sitter. You can prove a lot of things in science but you can't prove that!
Then there are the folk who see a demon around every corner and blame anything that goes wrong as an attack of the devil. Who cannot do anything without looking for a sign. Who do not want to make any decision for themselves but would rather have God treat them as a puppet on a string. It is perhaps these that get up some atheists nose. They get up my nose too sometimes.
There are those who witness not to share the wonderful thing they have found in God but rather to beat everyone into some sort of submission to their way of thinking. This is wrong, wrong, wrong.
Was God invented to explain the unexplainable and now we have science instead? I believe it goes much deeper than that. There is in many a heart the deep hunger to know God. To feel the spiritual fufilment that science cannot give.
There are many a well educated intelligent people who have a deep abiding faith in God. In my own life there are things I have felt and seen that I know cannot be explained. I live in a world that I cannot imagine without God. I have also lived in a world without him. It was empty. I have no desire to go back there. I am not wasting my life on fairy tales. I live more now than I did without God. It's an awesome journey!
