Hi notbraindead,
:Funny how you can twist the sciptures because the Bible never says that this man's living was ruined as a result.
Now you make an intersting point here. The bible never *says* the man's fortunes were ruined, this is true, but there are examples in the bible were an outcome wasn't actually given but one is assumed. Take for instance the part where Peter was with Jesus when some tax issue came up and they needed to come up with some dough. Jesus told Peter to go to the water and get the coin out of a fish, right? Well does it go on to say "And Peter came running back a while later waving a coin that the Lord miraculously caused to be in the fish's mouth"? No, it says no such thing. But how often have I heard this very story proclaimed a miracle with just that ending supposed? Lots.
One might reason that this is a safe assumption. Well I think it is more reasonable to assume this was Jesus' off-hand way of saying deal with worldly expenses with the fruits of your labor. Of course people who would rather just stand by and wait for God to take care of all their problems probably don't find my inrterpretation of that too appealing. I suppose they would also think that a herd of swine being sent off a cliff would cause no one financial hardship.
It's all in the way you look at it, I guess.
