“Urgency of the times”

We who have talked to “faithful” Jehovah's Witnesses know the total amnesia they suffer from when it comes to the years before 1975, reading the Watchtower magazine from those years should be compulsory for new Jehovah's Witness converts. That way they could learn to ignore the constant shouting about the imminence of the end in the current magazines. Feast your eyes on these gems from the late sixties:

DECISION NOW IS VITAL
The urgency of the times in which we are living requires that we do all we can to bring our lives into harmony with God’s will. From what you have learned you know why this system of things is rapidly deteriorating before our eyes. You know the meaning of the unrest and increased violence in all the earth. All this shows that we have approached the very brink of the earth-cleansing destruction of which Jesus and the Bible writers prophesied!

Enjoy the usual totally insane reasoning about how intolerably bad the “ world conditions” was, and the “system” was “rapidly deteriorating before our eyes“. Particularly silly is this sentence: “All this shows that we have approached the very brink of the earth-cleansing destruction of which Jesus and the Bible writers prophesied!” Well, the reality of history and the 30 years that have passed since this nonsense was written has clearly demonstrated that we weren’t on the “brink” of any such thing. Has the nit wits in Brooklyn learned anything from this? Of course not. Since those days the world conditions has made astonishing progress and life has become better for billions of people. Still we hear the same insane ranting from Brooklyn. But first some more from the sixties:

*** w69 5/15 312 Have You Been Studying for Six Months? ***
In view of the short time left in which to do their work, Jehovah’s witnesses do not continue to study the Bible with any who fail to respond to its urgent message within six months. The nearness of this system’s end compels them to use their time in the most effective way possible.

Thus it may be that if you have not as yet responded by even becoming a regular attender at some of the congregation meetings, the one who is studying the Bible with you may cancel that study arrangement in order to give his time to someone else. This arrangement is not meant to be harsh, but the urgency of the times in which we live demands it. There are millions of persons who need spiritual help and God’s servants want to reach all they possibly can. Wonder how many of those poor souls who started to “attend” in 1969, is left in the movement? What an utter waste of time, talent and resources. It is really sad thinking about the present millions of people squandering their life away chasing the same rainbow today. Being fed the same hopeless drivel about “urgency of the times”. But the insanity will probably continue, when mankind approach year 3000 we will still have crackpots shouting about the “urgency of the times”, and Jesus imminent return. After all he did say, according to Revelation, that he would come SOON! And what’s 3.000 or 10.000 years. Very soon I suppose, at least for “believers”.

Yeah sure, here we are 30 years later and those dopes didn’t have time to study for 6 months back in 1969, what a sick joke. Believe it or not but this ridiculous charade about 6 months studies started again? It must be one of the vegetables on the GB that have suffered from some flashbacks:

The Watchtower has stressed the need for Jehovah’s Witnesses to conduct a greater number of effective Bible studies in a shorter period of time. (See Isaiah 60:22.)

*** w96 1/15 13 Mankind Needs the Knowledge of God ***
It is a new publication that can be covered on home Bible studies rather quickly—perhaps in a few months.

Appreciation for taking in even a basic knowledge of the truth should motivate the student to attend Christian meetings. This could lead the student to giving some clear evidence of his desire to serve Jehovah. If such spiritual appreciation is not evident after the study in the Knowledge book has been conducted for an extended period, it may be advisable to discontinue the study.

*** km 6/96 3 How to Make Disciples With the Knowledge Book ***
Depending on the circumstances and aptitude of the student, it may be possible for you to cover most chapters in one session of an hour or so, without rushing through the study. Students will make better progress when both teacher and student keep their appointment for the study each week. Thus, with most persons, it may be possible to complete the book’s 19 chapters in a matter of about six months or so.

So once again it is urgent to get the poor suckers enrolled as quick as possible into the Almighty Organization:

*** km 6/96 4 How to Make Disciples With the Knowledge Book ***
14 Direct Students to Jehovah’s Organization: It is a disciple maker’s responsibility to direct the student’s interest to Jehovah’s organization. The student will advance more quickly to spiritual maturity if he recognizes and appreciates the organization and realizes the need to become part of it. We want him to find pleasure in associating with God’s people and to look forward to being with us at the Kingdom Hall, where he can receive the spiritual and emotional support that the Christian congregation offers.—1 Tim. 3:15.

As we can see from the above quote it is the “Organization” that counts with the Jehovah's Witnesses. It is truly their GOD!

Norm.
