The
basic premise for this design is to create a two-level system which makes
the product more cost-effective as well as more useful. The finished
product consists of two units: the upper passenger module and the
lower drive module. Both units are assembled on completely
different lines, and are plugged together in the final assembly.
Several different cab styles could be designed, and they could all mount
on the same drive unit. This system would also promote interesting
joint ventures between companies. An interior supplier, for example,
could design and build the entire passenger unit in house; meanwhile the
truck company only has to concentrate on the drive section and other mechanicals.
The truck company may also just sell one piece of the whole to a company
which already makes the opposite unit (This is similar to how Winnebago
campers use the front ends of b-vans).
