What Happens Now?
After you become a Christian you may not feel very different. The truth is you probably wont. The only thing you'll probably experience right away is the joy and peace of Jesus Christ. You have a long road ahead of you. Some people will scorn you and turn their back on you because of your faith. Just remain faithful to God and you will receive treasures upon treasure in heaven. One major thing you'll have to do is to completely turn your life around. You will have to stop doing the wrong things and try your best to do good. God doesn't mind if you slip up once and awhile, just confess your sin to Him and ask for forgiveness. But this doesn't mean that you can constantly mess up and just as for forgiveness. Even though your salvation is permanent, God can and will punish those who slip into sin. The best thing for you to do after receiving Christ is to try to get involved in a church. The best kind of church to go to, in my opinion, is a Baptist church. I have been to numerous types of churches and I find that the Baptists are more biblical. Not to diminish other denominations, but their entire doctrine is absolutely biblical and conservative. But this is all my opinion. Try to go to a church that you feel comfortable in. But if it teaches something that isn't found on this web site or especially in the bible, leave! Don't get drug into a pit of lies, or you might just get stuck. Finally, study the bible and study it often. Try to read it every night. The best book to start in is the book of Matthew in the New Testament. If you don't have a bible, buy one! The easiest translation to understand is the New International Version (NIV). The Bible is the most important source of knowledge that you will ever have. Study it as often as you can. Also, try to associate with other Christians. Tell them that you are a new Christian and they will do there best to help you out!
