FINESSE:

 

A Finesse is when you try to win a trick with a low card while a higher one has not been played. Example: When you do not have a K - Lead a low card from your hand and play the Q from Dummy. If the Q wins the trick, play a low card from another suit in Dummy and take it in your hand. Try to lead another low card to J in Dummy (or 10). Now, when you play the Ace, the King should fall under it and you saved yourself from a losing trick The king would otherwise have taken a trick.

2nd Hand MOST ALWAYS - ALWAYS plays LOW.

3rd Hand MOST ALWAYS - ALWAYS plays HIGH

 

HOW TO KEEP SCORE

There are three ways to get a big score. Win a rubber, bid and make a slam, and double the opponents and set them.

The rubber bonus is for winning two games: 700 for a two game rubber, 500 for a three game rubber.

Only tricks contracted for count toward game and are scored below the line. Every thing else goes above the line.

Trick Score: 1 Heart or I Spade, 30 a trick

1 Dia. or 1 Club, 20 a trick

No Trump, 40 the lst trick &

30 for all others

A game is 100 points. You don't have to get it all in one deal. You may score 40 ("a leg") on the first hand and 60 on another. Whenever a game is scored any "leg" is cut off.

You are vulnerable when you have a game.
