| Radhasoami had its American beginings in American groups that borrowed from the teachings of Radhasoami but disguised as their own. Eckankar was one of these groups. Eckankar was founded by Paul Twitchell. Paul Twitchell was an initiate of master Kirpal Singh, who was intern, a student of Sawan Singh. Twitchell later covered up his true roots to distance himself from his religious origins. New religious movements have a tendency to deny their connections with parent religions. I believe this is to distance themselves and make them seem more established and creditable. The Bible even speaks about not putting new wine into old wineskins. |
