The open earth

by J.V.Ravichandran

Rubbles and ruins lay around
like the works of the sinner
bodies and flesh lay mangled
but heaven not saw the surround.

Death sang mellifluously
to eagles and vultures screeching
and swooping on death from above
but heaven not saw the surround.

Hunger, misery and fear
stalked the eyes of each
as copters and planes flew from near and far
but still heaven not saw the surround.

Earth opened time and again
furious at the wanton acts of man
ravaging and destroying all in its wake
but, will heaven ever see the surround ?
