HANSHI Miguel Montalvo Founder

HANSHI Miguel Montalvo, has been teaching karate in Puerto Rico for more than 30 years. Father Founder of Yamabushi Goju Kai, HANSHI Montalvo has in his account the achievement of trained and molded hundreds of black belts, many of them still teaching and competing in tournaments circuit in Puerto Rico and the USA. Many of his black belts has black belts students of his own. HANSHI Montalvo Began his career in martial arts with Sensei Willie Hernandez in Okinawa Karate sytem. Under Sensei Hernandez Montalvo achieved the rank of 3er degree black belt. In 1984 he moved and joined the world Sansei Goju Ryu Association based in Miami Florida. With the World Sansei, HANSHI Montalvo achieved several goals including the rank of 7th degree black belt. In 2000 HANSHI went a different ways from the Sansei Association and Founded in 2002 the Yamabushi Goju Kai, Based in the beautiful town of San Sebastian Puerto Rico. In August 2007 Hanshi Montalvo rejoined Master Saavedra on his new reorganized organization the KOKUSAI KORYU GOJUKAI KARATEDO. Hanshi Montalvo was also promoted to the rank of 9th dan by Master Manny Saavedra.
