Well, the 50 miler didn't work out as planned. 102 degrees at the start didn't help and we had one adult get ill. Thus, it all ended early.
So we came back, mowed a bit and then gypsy camped.
What's that? Well, first we headed down to MAYFIELD STATE PARK, camped there and canoed/fished Mayfield Lake and the Cowlitz. Henry had the pleasure of seeing a semi-clad young lady jump off a very tall cliff into the water in a place called "Dunn Canyon". This is a site worth the canoe - temperate rain forest meets slow winding river.
We even saw a snake cross the river.
Next, we headed to Mt. St. Helens. Crater was steaming and cool.
We then meandered up to Mineral Lake and, for only the 2nd time since owning the canoe, got skunked. ;(
Saturday saw Henry and Hannah (along with her attached BF) going to Owens Beach at Pt. Defiance for kayaking. Had a good time, although in my humble opinion I feel steadier after a few shots of hard liquor than on a kayak.
Sunday, we fly fished the Deschute.
Finally, Monday saw Henry going to LAKE WASHINGTON with our neighbor for a quick attempt at Sockeye Salmon. Yep, he limited.
