(Note: She only appears briefly in act 2, and this page contains spoilers for act 3)

Rei is a Shinto priestess who lives at the Hikawa Shrine and is often shown doing fire readings. She also attends T.A Girls' School. She first meets Usagi and Ami in episode 3, when Usagi accidentally bumps into her. Rei gives Usagi the cold shoulder, even when Usagi defends her against an angry mob. It seems that other people, including the kids at Usagi's school and Rei's school, are afraid of Rei - they think her mysterious powers are the reason girls have been going missing in the area. However, this turns out to be caused by the Dark Kingdom, and Rei's powers are because she is Sailor Mars.

Despite fighting alongside Sailor Moon to save the girls who had gone missing, Rei very quickly seems very reluctant to be friends with Usagi and Ami or to be part of their team. At the end of act 3 she walks off in a huff. A good word to describe Rei would be "aloof".

Also, Rei hates karaoke. Unless she was just saying that to spite Usagi.

When Rei becomes Sailor Mars, her hair changes from brown and shoulder length to black and waist length.
