Sugar Cookies

Submitted by Mimi Ryun; "This is my aunt Ruth's (Orville Liddell's wife) recipe.  I have used it for 47 years and it's good and easy.  Makes 4 dozen."

1 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1 t. vanilla

2 eggs

3 cups flour

2 t. baking powder

1 t. soda

1/4 salt

Mix together until smooth the butter, sugar and then the vanilla and eggs. Sift together the remaining ingredients and add to the other.

This dough is very forgiving meaning you can roll it out and cut your cookies and then pick it up and add more dough and roll out again and again and the dough won't get tough. This is great for Christmas cookies and they frost well or one can roll them into small balls, then put them on a cookie sheet and flatten with a sugar coated drinking glass bottom.

Bake at 350 degrees until very light brown. Enjoy!
