"LIDDELL" FROM A WAYS BACK--Rosie Atfield of Queensland Australia flashes a broad smile during a recent trip by John and Pat Liddell to eastern Australia. Rosie is descended from James Liddle and Isobel Drysdale through Margaret Lindsay Liddell (born 1846), the daughter of James and Isobel's James Liddell and his wife, Catherine (nee) Beattie.

A WARRIOR LIDDELL--Edward "Ted" Liddell (1913-1977) is the father of John Liddell of Wellington province New Zealand. Ted, an Australian, saw service in Southeast Asia in the Australian Army during World War Two, apparently the time frame for this picture of him in a military uniform. In New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom, Ted is the diminutive form of Edward. He is the only son of Percy George Liddell, the great-grandson of James Liddell of Alva Scotland.

BOATING IN NEW ZEALAND-- (From left): Flynn and Jordan Gardner and Caleb Saunders. Flynn and Jordan's parents are Trevor and Mary-Ann Liddell Gardner (Trevor is shown in the background.). Caleb is the son of Lorraine Liddell Saunders, Mary-Ann and Lorraine are daughters of John and Pat Liddell of Wellington Province, New Zealand. The September 2005 outing took place on grandpa John Liddell's MV Kotare outside the Auckland New Zealand harbor. (MV is a New Zealand acronym for Motor Vessel and Kotare is Maori for "Kingfisher".)

CAN LIFE GET ANY BETTER? --Rylee Gardner, sister to Flynn and Jordan, certainly enjoys sharing the captain's chair with grandpa John Liddell during a September 2005 boat outing near Auckland Harbor New Zealand on his 48-foot converted-fishing-craft cruiser motor vessel, the MV Kotare (Maori for Kingfisher).

A CLUSTER OF GREAT-GRANDKIDS—Great-Grand-Ma Peg (Letticia Olga Maude Liddell) with a part of her tribe of descendants at her 87th birthday celebration on November 20, 2005 at the home of son John and wife Pat Liddell's home in Wellington Province, New Zealand. From left across the rear of the group is Caleb Saunders, Peg Liddell who is holding Rylee Gardner in her lap, Jordan Gardner and Anna Liddell holding her half-sister Olivia Kairangaroa. Standing partially in front of Rylee at left in front row is Flynn Gardner with Rocco Kairangaroa standing back to the rear and in front of Jordan. Peg is John Liddell's mother.

THE TWAIN MEET—The lines of John Liddell of Wellington province New Zealand (left) and Colin George Liddell of the state of Queensland in northeast Australia meet for the first time in several generations in July 2005 as they share an amusing moment in Colin’s study in his home near Brisbane. Both men have documented their lines back to a James Liddle and Isobel Drysdale of Alva Scotland just north of Edinburgh and near the shore of the Forth of Firth inlet of the North Sea.
