Just say NO! to Back Yard Breeders!
I would first like to note that this is NOT a breeder bashing web site.
I myself own both pedigree cats and dogs and I feel grateful for the experience.
This site is designed to bring awareness to the general public and to answer some very basic questions that someone interested in a pedigree companion animal may have.
Backyard breeders, Puppy and Kitten mills are a real threat to the right of owning, showing and breeding pedigree companion animals.
Please be educated before you purchase your new pet.
You may be surprised to find out that not all Back Yard Breeders are of the Pedigree Animal sort.
Well meaning people who refuse to get their cats or dogs spay and neutered are responsible for a great MANY of the unwanted pets that have to be put to
DEATH every single day.
This sort of irresponsible behavior is just as deploriable as those who are 'out to make a buck'.
Please spay and neuter all pets that are not in a well planned and researched, consciencous breeding program.
TIPS

There are some  very basic differences in the ethics and practices of various animal breeders.
What may may be acceptable with dogs may not be acceptable practice in a cat breeding program, or bird breeding program.
However, it is my experience that a few things remain consistant.
1)A good breeder will interveiw you
2)Good breeders ALWAYS use contracts
3)Good breeders DO NOT over breed or sell offspring too young.
4)They always offer some sort of health contract.
5)They care about the animals future.
6)They DO NOT use their animals to sell other products. (ie. MUST buy this product through breeder  etc, etc)
7)They are open and current about any and all breed related health concerns.
8)They are somehow connected or involved in the breeding community
9) They DO NOT sell to pet shops or in litter lots.
10)They own, lease or co own at least one of the breeding animals. ( NO brokers or agents the mom lives with the offspring with the breeder until they are placed)
11) They should be able to provide you with information about the animals heritage or pedigree and any health issues.
12) Last but not least remember, A 'nice person' or fancy web site does not always make for a Good Responsible and ethical breeder.
BUYER BEWARE!!!

Just keep in mind people can 'buy' ads, 'buy' breeding animals, the internet is a free medium and there are good and bad breeders just like there are good and sleezy used car salesmen. BE SMART!

I ask for the privilage of not being born..
Not to be born until you can assure me a home and a master to protect me, and the right to live as long as I am physically able to enjoy life....not to be born until my body is precious and men have ceased to exploit it because it is cheap and plentiful.

What is a responsible breeder?
Dear Backyard Breeder....
No Puppy Mills Canada
One of the worst things that can happen to a breed of animal, and those who truly love them, is for that breed to become very, very popular... Sad but true. Just ask any Dalmation lover...
