The year 2000 has been a good one for Livi and me. I continue to enjoy my job as Executive Director of West Virginia Senior Legal Aid, providing free legal services for people over 60 all across the state.  This year I got the big grant from the federal Administration on Aging, doubling our budget and enabling us to hire a staff attorney!  I am still learning a lot about managing a small non-profit, and about elderlaw.
I have had the pleasure of playing music with a wide variety of folks this year, mostly as a ringer bassplayer.  Having to fake nearly every tune all night definitely keeps my on my proverbial toes, and prevents the inevitable pains of being a vested partner in a musical project.  Nuff sed. :)
Our neighbor's horse is living in our barn, so we had the pleasure of seeing a beautiful chestnut stallion in our meadow the morning of the first snow (2 1/2 inches) this year. That was pretty groovy.
Olivia is digging 4th grade (straight A's!) and learning to play the violin.  She is trying to learn to whistle, and is still working on the whole cartwheel thing.  She was a powerhitter on her softball team this year.   It's hard to keep her off the cathode ray tube (both TV and the web), but she reads like a fiend, so I cut her some slack on these vices.  Besides, her favorite movie is Tank Girl, so I'm obviously raising her right!  Hee hee.
We both had a blast when Dubya Shrub came to Morgantown, making and wearing sandwich boards with our individual two cents on them.  Our favorite slogan of the campaign season: George and Al make me wanna Ralph! Those Nader fans, gotta love'em.
