In the last two summers, I have had the privilege to meet
the one and only Joshua Jackson not once, not twice, but three times al the
while I was in Wilmington, NC. My first
time was last year on August 5, 1999 inside a local café in Wilmington. They were shooting a season three premier so
Josh had on one of the shirts that Pacey is known for: his famous Hawaiian
shirt (it’s the shirt that he was seen in wearing in the first scene of “Like a
Virgin”) When I walked into the café, there he was: signing autographs and
posing for pictures. I patiently, and nervously waited my turn to approach him;
all the while I was shaking pretty badly. It’s not everyday that you walk into
a café and see your favourite actor that you admire so deeply standing just a
few feet away from you. When I finally
went up to him, he put his arms around me and laughed because I guess he could
feel how nervous I was. Once the
picture was taken, I asked him for an autograph. He asked me what my name was and believe it or not, I forgot for
a few seconds what my name was. But
once all thought re-entered my mind, I told him it was Mia. He smiled and handed me back the paper that
I had him sign and on it he had written “to Mia. Enjoy the show. Josh
Jackson”. Once he was through with me,
he had to return to filming. We all
thanked him and he thanked us also.
Little did I know that the next day, I would see him again. On August 6, 1999, I was waiting outside the
studio for a glimpse of someone from the show. Since it was so hot out, we were
invited under a nearby catering tent so to keep cool. After meeting Brittany Daniel, Josh came under the tent to grab
some breakfast (A cheeseburger if I remember correctly) As he was waiting for
his food, everyone under the tent flocked to him, asking for more pictures and
autographs. There were quite a bit more
people this time round but Josh made sure he got around to everyone. When I handed him the milk ad he is on, he
once again asked what my name was. I
told him it was Mia and he smiled at me and said, “You were here
yesterday”. I just said “yeah” because
I was so surprised that he had remembered me.
He ended up signing the milk ad before once again returning to
work. When I returned home to Bel Air,
Maryland, I was actually quite depressed.
I had a great time in Wilmington of course, I loved meeting Josh. I don’t know how I managed to pull it off,
but I persuaded my parents to take yet ANOTHER trip back this summer
(2000). And that is when I met Josh for
the 3rd time. It was August
9, 2000 when it happened. Some friends
and I were on location when out steps a guy from a van with a shaved head and
sunglasses. It took me a few seconds to
realise that it was Josh. He was
sporting his new buzzed cut hair do (which, might I add, looks GOOD). We watched him and Sash Alexander (Gretchen
Witter) rehearse some scenes and all the while, Josh was a complete
goofball. He would jump up and down,
sing, dance, and make ‘lil voices. At
one point, he tripped while walking up the steps to a beach house. Everyone applauded him and he ran across the
porch, smiled, took a bow, and said “thank you, thank you!” During one of his very few breaks, he came
over to the people waiting to meet him.
He was wearing a green plaid shirt with jean shorts and flip-flops. He stayed with us for as long as he could
before being carted back to film some more scenes. Josh was actually pretty concerned about us since it was VERY hot
outside that day. He kept reminding us
to drink plenty of water so no one would faint or get heatstroke. He even had some crewmembers bring us some
snacks and a cooler filled with water.
As the day rolled on, one crewmember even went as far as bringing us a
fan that sprayed mist since we were outside ALL day. I saw Josh and Katie
Holmes film a few scenes (yes, I did meet Katie, who by the way, is VERY shy
but very nice) and after Josh was through, he went home. The poor guy wasn’t feeling too well after
being in the heat all day. That was my
last time seeing josh but each time I saw him or met him, he was always the
same: VERY funny, VERY hot, and VERY nice.
He is pretty down-to-earth and very sweet; I really enjoyed meeting him
and hope that everyone eventually gets the chance to meet him because then you
will see what a great person he is.
