Why did you choose to star in The Skulls?

The story seemed fun – it’s a fast-paced thriller.  The film also raises a few serious questions.  My character, Luke, faces some tricky moral dilemmas but he sticks to what he believes in and I really like that.  This was my first lead in a film, so I knew I wanted it to be just right.

How did you get on with Paul Walked (Josh’s co-star in The Skulls)?

Like a house on fire! It’s great being my age, because there are so many other kids out there who are also just starting out in their careers and we’re all just happy to be working.  This is such a fun job too, and we’re here cause we love it – we’re not just doing it for the money.

Who do you think you’re more like, Pacey Witter or Luke McNamara?

There’s a bit of me in both characters, but they’re supposed to be human beings, so pieces of their personalities are in everyone.  They’re both strong characters, but Pacey doesn’t really seem to have any goals in life, whereas Luke has an absolute goal and the film’s all about how he reaches them

What was your most cringeworthy moment on set?

When I was training for the film with the row club, the guys were wearing all-in-one, skin-tight outfits.  I didn’t realise I’d have to dress like that until we actually filmed the race scene.  I came on set in this super-tight outfit and the whole cast and crew cheered.  Then I had to suffer the same embarrassment when my friends watched the film – they died laughing!

Luke has to make a lot of sacrifices to be a Skull.  What’s the hardest thing you’ve had to give up to be successful?

My freedom.  I’m in Wilmington filming Dawson’s Creek for nine months of the year.  I miss my home and my family, but I’ve made my choices and I wouldn’t change them.

What would you be prepared to give up for success?

You have to trade in you anonymity, but you can’t exactly complain if you’re lucky enough to make it! I find it easier socially – I’m shy with people I don’t know, but now they come and talk to me, which is great.

Would you ever put a girlfriend before your career?

Absolutely! I guess it would depend on the situation, but yeah, of course I would! (awww!)

Who’s more appealing, a blockbuster actress or a computer genius?

That’s a really tough question.  I’m attracted to successful women and both these careers are male-dominated, so by doing well in those careers, the women would be extra-successful.  But, on the other hand, that might mean they’d have big egos too, which is something I really can’t stand

Would you like to be part of a mega-successful celebrity couple à la Brad and Jen?

They are so high-profile, aren’t they? I’d really hate to live like that.  It’s really nobody’s damn business who I go out with.  That wouldn’t stop me going out with an actress I really liked, though.  I think I’d get away with it – I operate on a much smaller level for one thing.  I’m not as famous as they are and I keep away from all the photo shoots and stuff.
