Question of the Week #5: Japanese elementary school students do some things in school each day that you don't do at Oliver Heckman Elem. School. What are they?

Don't forget, I will be visiting a lot of schools during my trip to Japan. I will be writing all about them in my daily journal. Check in often!

These answers are all correct:
  • they take their shoes off before going into school
  • they bow to their teachers
  • Japanese elementary school students eat their lunch in the classroom as opposed to the cafeteria. The children clean the room after lunch.
  • At the end of the school day, students clean the classroom, the halls, the restrooms and the yard.
  • They have earthquake drills in addition to fire drills.
  • Most elementary schools teach home economics as well as our regular subjects.
