Lower Grades: Click on the Currency Page to see Japanese money. If you wanted to buy a kimono that costs $100 in American money, how much would it cost in Japanese yen? Click on Exchange Rate to find out how many yen equal one dollar.

Upper Grades: Do the same as the lower grades. Then list 10 or more different ways of paying in Japanese currency. For example: if you needed to spend 10,540 yen you could pay with-

Lower Grades: About how far is it from Langhorne to Japan (in miles)?

Upper Grades: About how far is it from Langhorne to Japan via San Francisco? Write the answer in miles and kilometers. If you could drive to San Fransisco at a speed of 60 miles per hour and then take a ship to Japan at 60 miles per hour from San Fransisco, how many hours would it take to get to Japan? How many days would that be?

Do you know how fast an airplane flies? How long is the trip by plane?

Lower Grades: Check out the weather in Tokyo for 5 days. You can watch the weather channel or go to either of these websites: http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/weather_e/map.htm http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/Tokyo_JP_f.html

Compare the weather in Tokyo to the weather in Langhorne. (Use daily high temperatures.) Be sure that you are using the same scale (celsius or fahrenheit) to compare.

Upper Grades: Gather the same information as the lower grades. Create a double bar graph or a double line graph to illustrate the comparisons. Be sure to give your graph a title; make sure the scale is accurate.
