My name is Justin Kulick, and I am aspiring hard rock petrologist and percussion instructor. I am 22, ugh yea that makes me feel old, and I am very active and dedicated person. I am currently engaged to be married in July, 2005. For professional information/hiring information see my current resume.
Please refer to my current resume. I have been very fortunate to have had many wonderful opportunities that have given me very valuable life skills. I have chosen employment opportunities that test my skills, knowledge, and level of comfort; I am a very driven person and there is nothing I can't do. My whole lies ahead of me, and I do not intend on waiting another minute. I will always be intelligent, resourceful, and seeking new opportunity.
My teaching qualifications are as diverse as my background, this is because as a teacher I not only learn from my students but draw upon my resources and experiences outside of the teaching profession. I have tutored my peers in advanced geological concepts, learn how to integrate many scientific fields through research, and really have come to grasp the terms pride in teamwork as a member of the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. I have taught marching percussion for five years now, I have helped developed a strong percussive line, where the students take pride in what they have become a part of. For more information see my resume, and my philosophy of education.
I am an outdoor enthusiast to say the least. I hate being cooped up inside, unless it is for research or learning purposes (which are big exceptions). Geology plays a huge role in my life, Lauren might even call it 'my other girlfriend.' I am obsessive about the topic, the more I learn the hungrier I get... I want to know everything I possible can, and I just eat up the material. I love to look at outcrop, go on midnight raids of quarries, do field mapping, anything that gets me out in the field to look at rock. I am the type of person that makes normal geology students sick, I am a very intense person about the topic. I am the idiot along the side of the road looking at outcrop, driving erratically because I am trying to determine the structure or classification for a suite of rocks, I am the dork that checks out fluid inclusions in table tops, and the guy who gets excited about any geologic topic being discussed.
Currently I am training to hike a large section of the Appalachian Trail (AT) in Maine, unfortunately I don't foresee myself having the time or the money to ever "through hike" the entire trail. My goal, however, is to become a full fledged '2,000' miler by hiking the AT in sections, with my lovely companion and fiancée Lauren. Hopefully my best friend Chris will also join us on some of the hikes.
I also love to fly-fish, which takes a lot of patience and is very calming. Fishing goes a long way back with my family and it is more meditation than anything else. It feels so good to just be one with outdoors. I also do some bass and deep-sea fishing.
I enjoy mountain biking, trail running, swimming, football, soccer, volleyball, enduro (dirt bikes), and working out. I love being outdoors and I love to travel to new places to experience all the awe inspiring features this earth has to offer.
And of course, Marching Percussion is a great outlet of expression for me... currently I teach at Jefferson Township High School, I compose and arrange music, and perform with a variety of groups. If you are interested in my unique approach to percussion and how I can help you or your students please use the contact information at the bottom of the page.
Currently you may contact me one way due to conflicts with students trying to contact: Through my private email - *Please state an appropriate subject, so that I reply to your correspondence as prompt as possible.*
