1. There was discontent with the old regime in France because the Third Estate people, peasants, resented the privileges and thought it was unfair. 

2. A crowd stormed the Bastille because the people of the country were very angry at the monarchy because they felt that the taxation was unfair and harsh.

5. The Reign of Terror was a time where the new invention came up called the guillotine, which was a machine used to cut peoples heads off. They used this in order to execute anyone who was a criminal. Robespierre became the leader of Reign of Terror.

• Built Roads and canals.
• Promoted a system of public schools under strict government control. 

7. Napoleon tried to increase the French power in
Europe by battling countries and defeating them and expanded his empire. 

8. The result of Napoleon’s invasion of
Russia is that Russians retreated eastward, burning crops, and villages to avoid battles with Napoleon. 

9. The congress of
Vienna tried to restore the balance of power in Europe by ringing France with strong countries. They balanced Europe in several ways. They added Belgium and Luxembourg to Holland to create the kingdom of the Netherlands. To prevent French expansion eastward, they gave Prussia lands along the Rhine River.
