Music of the 1950's
The Fabulous fifties were the years that revolutionized the United States. One of the

biggest changes involved music. Before these days black people listened to their music and

white people listened to theirs. Elvis Presley was the first star of rock and roll, and the

man behind the music revolution. Elvis took music from both blacks and whites and made

it into one colorless genre. He mixed blues, country, and gospel music to make what we

call rock and roll. Presley became very popular star and idol to many young men and to

some young women. His music, complemented by his smooth swagger and slick style

attracted the eyes of many teenage girls. Presleys fame and riches also made him a role

model to teenage boys. Although rock and roll was very popular during the Fab Fifties,

there were many other names and faces that changed the music industry, such as Nat King

Cole and Frank Sinatra.
