Fiction- a fiction story or book is one that is made up, or unreal.

Novels- a fictional prose narrative of considerable length

Short stories- Short story is a short, brief fiction story.

Characters- Characters are the individuals who take part in the action in a novel, short story, etc.

Main characters- the most important characters (protagonist, antagonist, big roles)

Minor characters- the less prominent characters (small roles)

Dynamic characters- characters that undergo change as plot unfolds

Static characters- remain the same

Setting- The setting of a story is the place (location) and the time.

Plot- The plot is the chain of related events that take place in the story

Exposition- The exposition is the background that sets up the plot.

Inciting Incident- The inciting incident is the beginning of the plot.

Rising Action- events that happen before the climax

Climax- The climax is the point of no return.

Falling action- events that occur after the climax

Denouement- The resolution

Theme- The theme is the important message or idea in the story.
